Literary Manager
After completing a BA in Music with drama, Caro gained her Masters at Central School of Speech and Drama specialising in dramaturgy. After graduation she worked with Syndromus Theatre Company as company dramaturg and co-writer on their work STILL. In 2010 Caro moved to Chicago to work at the renowned Goodman theatre where she worked with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Hardy on the world premier of Brett C Leonard’s The Long Red Road as well as on productions of The Good Negro (Tracey Scott Wilson) and A True History of the Johnstown Flood (Rebecca Gilman). Caro joined Writer’s Avenue as a reader upon her return to London and took on the role of Literary Manager. Caro also works as a dramaturgical consultant on numerous projects on a freelance basis, most recently with Universal Citizen on their work QUANGO 193.
Script Readers
Christina Angus
Christina has a BA in English and Drama from Queen Mary, University of London. She has interned for Arcola Theatre and the Bush Theatre and is a Programming Intern for The Pleasance Theatre, Islington. Christina has also been Assistant Director on plays both at The Pleasance and Theater 503. She joined Writer’s Avenue as a script reader as she has a real interest in play development and encouraging opportunities for new writing.
Clare Abbott
Clare graduated with an English Literature degree from Lady Maragaret Hall College, Oxford University. She currently also works for Globe Education at the Globe. Clare has a keen passion for new writing. Clare joined the team in August 2010.
Elizabeth Holmes
Elizabeth trained at Lancaster University in Drama and English Literature, she has worked as an actress for the BBC, The Arcola Theatre, Jackson’s Lane Theatre and MTV among many and has taken a keen interest in script reading for Writer’s Avenue and joined the team in July.
Giles Cole
Giles has written seven plays for BBC Radio and eight stage plays, the most recent being a play about Terence Rattigan for the Brighton Festival Fringe 2011. He has worked in the BBC Television Script Unit, on the script panel for Croydon Warehouse Theatre, and for several years he chaired the theatre panel for the Writers' Guild Awards. He has also written many scripts for corporate awards ceremonies, and is a reviewer for the Whatsonstage website. He joined the company in April 2010.
Graeme Thompson
Graeme has a BA in Theatre Dramaturgy and an MA in Performance from the University of Leeds. He has worked as a script reader and dramaturg for the West Yorkshire Playhouse and in the programming department of The Albany. As a dramaturg he specialises in the development of new writing for the theatre. Graeme is currently a dramaturg to the Brockley Jack Studio Theatre. Graeme joined the team in August.
June Trask
June has a BA in English/Drama, an MA in creative writing, an MLitt in directing Shakespeare and a diploma from University of Bristol in Creative Writing for Performance. She has directed over 60 productions. She taught drama for Stagecoach Theatre Arts and tutors theatre students. June’s ten-minute play Shelter was produced as part of The Five Tenners at Wickham Theatre in Bristol. Her interactive play for young people about cultural awareness, Can You Hear Me?, toured schools in Cornwall 2010 and she is currently working on another play about cyber-bullying which tours schools Autumn 2011. She has directed for Writers Avenue’s First Twenty Minutes and The Final Stage and will direct at the Barnstaple Fringe TheatreFest this year. June joined the company in April 2010.
Casting Department
Amy O’Neill
Amy trained as an actor at Mountview Academy of Arts and spent nine years in the business as a performer before the transition into casting. During her time as a Freelance Casting Director she has assisted Marilyn Johnson, Sarah Crowe and Tree Petts Casting on various TV, Film, Theatre and Commercials and she has recently cast productions for; Ovation Productions (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), Arcola Theatre, Giddy Ox Productions,GC Productions and Golden Ticket Productions. Amy is also currently working part time as an agent's assistant at Jonathan Arun Ltd. For further information got to www.amyoneillcasting.co.uk Amy joined the company in April 2010.
Annie Rowe
Annie trained as an actress at The National Youth Theatre and RADA before becoming a freelance Casting Assistant in 2007. In 2009, alongside assisting, Annie started casting independently and is currently the resident Casting Director for Theatre503. She has worked for, amongst others, The Egg at Theatre Royal Bath, BDA Creative, The Bush Theatre and the Casting Collective. Annie’s website can be viewed at http://www.annierowe-casting.com/
Sam James
Sam is currently working as a Creative Producer at The Cock Tavern Theatre in Kilburn. He has a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts from Goldsmiths College, University of London. He has experience in both Commercial and Fringe production working on tours (UK and Internationally), on London’s West End and Fringe. He has worked with companies such as Bill Kenwright Ltd, Pact Imagination Theatre, Trestle Touring Theatre and Above The Stag Theatre. Sam joined the company in May.
Marketing Department
Alison MacRonald
Alison graduated with a MA in Art, Design and Education and a BA in History of Art and Fine Art. She is working with Writers Avenue to gain experience of arts marketing and administration. Alison is in charge of updating Writer's Avenue promotional material and assisting in market research. Alison joined the company in March.
